Job summary

Tatum by Randstad is seeking an Interim Controller in Houston for a 3- to 6-month engagement. The role requires hands-on accounting leadership, close with GAAP compliance, and frequent board reporting.

The ideal candidate has deep experience with recurring revenue models (MRR/ARR), project accounting, and strategic finance oversight in an MSP/IT services context. Hybrid work with two on-site days per week is required.

Qualifications

• Experience Level: Proven track record as a Controller, VP of Finance, or CFO who excels at both high-level board presentations and tactical, hands-on accounting.
• Financial & Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of recurring revenue accounting (MRR/ARR), service profitability, and project accounting.
• Industry Experience: Background in MSP / IT Managed Services is highly preferred. Experience working with credit unions or financial institution service organizations is a plus.
• Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA and/or MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Core Accounting & Close: Execute month-end close, bank reconciliations, and proper booking of revenue, expenses, and COGS per U.S. GAAP.
• Board & Executive Reporting: Prepare and present financial packages, dashboards, and insights to leadership and a Board of Directors.
• Strategic M&A Support: Support growth and exit planning through cash flow modeling, valuation analysis, and due diligence.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting and capital planning.
• Operational Execution: Oversee AR/AP, cash flow, internal controls, and data security standards.

A high-growth technology and managed services organization with a decade-long track record is seeking a hands-on Interim Controller. This role is 3-6 months in duration and will average 32-40 hours per week. The role is Hybrid with two days per week on site required in NW-Houston.

Key Responsibilities
