Our client is a US-based organization seeking a seasoned Microsoft Dynamics 365 consultant with a strong accounting and finance background. The role focuses on assessing the current environment, addressing a backlog of reporting and process needs, and building a scalable reporting infrastructure within D365.

The initial focus will be financial reporting, general ledger analysis, dashboard development, KPIs, inventory visibility, and standardized management reporting.

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 in finance and accounting environments.
• Strong accounting/finance expertise and ability to translate requirements into system solutions.
• Experience configuring or developing D365 financial reporting.
• Familiarity with general ledger, financial reporting, AP/AR, purchasing processes.

Our client is a growing organization looking to strengthen the way its finance team utilizes Microsoft Dynamics 365. Following an initial D365 implementation, the organization has significant functionality and data available within the system but lacks the internal expertise needed to fully optimize reporting, analytics, workflows, and finance-related capabilities.

The company is seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 consultant with a strong accounting and finance background to assess the current environment, address a backlog of reporting and process needs, and help the finance organization build a more scalable and effective reporting infrastructure.

The initial focus will be heavily centered on financial reporting, general ledger analysis, dashboard development, KPIs, inventory visibility, and standardized management reporting.

This is not simply a technical D365 role. The successful consultant must understand accounting processes and be able to translate finance requirements into effective system solutions.

The engagement may begin as a focused project or sprint to address immediate priorities, with the potential for ongoing support as additional needs are identified.

The role can be performed primarily remotely, with limited onsite interaction if helpful during discovery or implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess the current Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment, with an initial focus on finance and accounting functionality.
• Partner with finance leadership to identify reporting gaps, system limitations, workflow issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop enhanced financial reporting capabilities within or connected to D365.
• Improve the finance team's ability to perform detailed general ledger analysis and quickly access underlying transactional data.
• Build dashboards and KPI reporting that provide finance and executive leadership with timely visibility into business performance.
• Help create a standardized catalog of management reports that serves as a consistent source of truth across the organization.
• Develop reporting that supports multiple financial views, including P&L analysis, contribution analysis, period-over-period comparisons, and other management reporting requirements.
• Reduce reliance on manually created and inconsistent Excel reports by creating repeatable, system-driven reporting processes.

  Qualifications

  The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, particularly within finance and accounting environments.
  • Strong accounting or finance expertise; candidates must be able to understand financial statements, general ledger activity, accounting workflows, and management reporting requirements.
  • Experience configuring, improving, or developing D365 financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, and related accounting processes.
  • Experience developing dashboards, KPIs, and management reporting solutions.
  • Experience working with Power BI, Power Query, and Excel-based reporting tools.
  • Ability to extract, structure, analyze, and present data from D365 in a usable format for finance and executive leadership.
  • Experience with inventory-related processes and reporting within D365 strongly preferred.
  • Ability to assess an existing ERP environment and recommend practical improvements and best practices.
  • Experience reducing manual reporting and establishing standardized, repeatable reporting processes.
  • Strong ability to translate business and accounting requirements into technical or system solutions.
