ABOUT OUR CLIENT:

The company is seeking an Interim Controller to help elevate its accounting function, implement best practices, and guide two Director-level accountants to achieve operational excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Share functional/industry accounting best practices, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with best-in-class standards for the Entertainment/Production industry.
• Mentor and provide strategic direction to two Director-level accountants, focusing on leadership development and process improvement.
• Oversee and lead the company’s cash-to-accrual conversion, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and providing detailed guidance throughout the process.
• Review/enhance all aspects of the financial close process, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of financial statements.
• Evaluate current accounting policies and procedures, identifying opportunities for optimization and implementing best practices.
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition practices in line with industry standards and U.S. GAAP.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial reporting and accounting processes with organizational goals.
• Drive initiatives to automate and streamline accounting workflows, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual processes.
• Support external audit and tax compliance efforts by preparing schedules, resolving discrepancies, and providing necessary documentation.
• Provide ad hoc financial and operational support to the executive team as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years at the Controller level.
• Extensive experience in the gaming or interactive entertainment (Film, TV, Animation, Gaming, and Live Theater) industry is required.
• Expertise in U.S. GAAP, including experience with cash-to-accrual accounting conversions.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop senior-level accounting professionals.
• Strong understanding of ERP systems (Intacct would be very nice to have)
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of management and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work onsite 3–4 days per week in West Hollywood.
