Job summary

Tatum by Randstad seeks an experienced Interim Controller for a Chicago-based, PE-owned technology/services company. The role is a 2–3 month engagement, hybrid with onsite expectation in the West Loop 2–4 days per week. Local candidates only.

No travel-in candidates. The controller will absorb knowledge from the outgoing controller, maintain the close process, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support transition and acquisition-related changes.

Interim Controller Needed – Chicago / West Loop Hybrid

Tatum is seeking a strong Interim Controller for a mid-market, PE-owned technology/services company in Chicago.

This is an urgent 2–3 month engagement with a target start as soon as possible. The role is hybrid, with the expectation of being onsite in the West Loop approximately 2–4 days per week.

Local Chicago-area candidates only. No travel-in candidates for this engagement.

The client needs a hands-on Controller who can step in quickly, absorb knowledge from the outgoing Controller, keep the accounting function moving, and support the organization through a period of transition and acquisition-related change.

Required experience:

• Hands-on Interim Controller or Controller-level experience
• Month-end close ownership
• Financial reporting and reconciliations
• Team oversight and process management
• Audit readiness and documentation support
• Experience in a PE-owned, mid-market, or fast-changing environment
• Ability to start quickly and work onsite in Chicago’s West Loop 2–4 days/week

Strongly preferred:

• Acquisition or M&A support experience
• Cash forecasting experience
• MD&A support, including COGS analysis
• Experience with technology/services businesses
• Sage Intacct exposure or implementation/transition experience

Target pay rate: $100–$115/hour, depending on experience and fit.
