The assignment

Reporting to the CEO (and partnering with the PE-firm, the majority investor), the Interim CFO (3–6 months, full-time) will stabilize and modernize the finance function while the company evaluates its long-term leadership needs. M&A activity is off the table; the mandate is integration, discipline, and forward-looking insight.

• Consolidate four business units currently running Sage Intacct or QuickBooks; design a single chart of accounts and shared close calendar.

• Oversee data migration and interface work with the in-flight field-service/CRM tech stack.

• Own all lender relationships; renegotiate revolver and cap-ex facilities, ensuring covenant compliance and optimal liquidity.

• Build 13-week cash-flow model and daily cash visibility dashboard.

• Lead annual budget refresh and roll out zero-based forecasting by line of business.

• Deliver weekly flash, monthly management pack, and board KPIs (sales leads, close-rate, margin/crew, service backlog).

• Upgrade internal controls, inventory & job-cost accounting, and WIP recognition policies.

• Coach accounting team; assess talent gaps and outsource/insource options.

• Act as finance voice on pricing, vendor negotiations, and digital-marketing ROI.

Success metrics (first 120 days)

• Day-30 – Clean weekly cash report & covenant tracker delivered; Q1 close executed < D+10.
• Day-90 – FY-25 budget, three-statement model & KPI dashboard accepted by CEO/board.
• Day 120 – Intacct/QuickBooks consolidation blueprint signed off; finance SOP library (P2P, O2C, R2R) at 80 % completion.

Candidate profile

• 15+ years progressive finance leadership; prior CFO or VP-Finance experience in multi-entity, job-cost-driven businesses (construction, home services, specialty trade).
• Demonstrated history consolidating disparate ERPs (Intacct, QB, NetSuite, etc.) and standing up automated close/reporting workflows.
• Strong banking acumen – negotiated asset-based lines, term debt, and equipment leases; comfortable presenting to credit committees.
• Deep FP&A skill set – driver-based modeling, unit-economics analytics, sales-funnel conversion metrics.
• Hands-on leader who can dive into the GL one hour and brief private-equity partners the next.
• CPA and/or MBA preferred; private-equity or family-owned middle-market exposure a plus.
• Availability to be on-site 3–4 days per week for the duration of the engagement.
• Start date: ASAP (target July 7, 2025).
• Duration: 3–6 months with option to convert to permanent role.
• Reporting line: CEO; dotted line to Board/PE sponsor.
