Job summary

E78 Talent is seeking an interim Chief Financial Officer for a nonprofit hospital to lead all financial operations and executive reporting.

The role requires extensive experience in healthcare finance, revenue cycle management, projections, and board-level communication. You will partner with clinical and operational leaders to drive financial discipline and strategic planning during a transformation.

Qualifications

• Prior CFO or senior financial leadership experience within a hospital or health system.
• Strong understanding of nonprofit healthcare financial operations.
• Experience with hospital reimbursement, revenue cycle, payer mix, Medicare/Medicaid, and managed care.
• Proven ability to manage cash flow, liquidity, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare accounting and financial controls.
• Experience presenting financial results and recommendations to Boards and executive leadership.
• Hands-on interim or transformation environment.
• Experience stabilizing finance functions, improving processes, and leading teams through change.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
• CPA or MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead all financial operations, including accounting, FP&A, treasury, revenue cycle oversight, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Provide timely and accurate financial reporting to executive leadership and the Board.
• Lead cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and working capital initiatives.
• Evaluate operating performance, margins, labor costs, service-line profitability, and other key hospital financial metrics.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve financial discipline, accountability, and decision-making.
• Oversee the annual budget and forecast process and strengthen financial planning processes where needed.
• Support revenue cycle performance, including patient collections, reimbursement trends, denials, AR, and payer mix.
• Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare accounting, regulatory, audit, and reporting requirements.
• Manage relationships with auditors, lenders, banks, and other external stakeholders as needed.
• Evaluate the strength and structure of the finance organization and provide leadership, mentoring, and recommendations for improvement.
• Support strategic initiatives, capital planning, cost reduction, and performance improvement efforts.
• Assist with the transition to a permanent CFO, including documentation, knowledge transfer, and onboarding support.
