Job summary

First Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach seeks an Interim Associate Pastor for Christian Formation and Fellowship to work closely with the Senior Pastor, Youth and Young Professionals Ministries, and Senior Adult Ministries to lead the congregation’s formation for all ages.

• Will teach children, teens, and adults in Christian formation.
• Coordinate volunteers and support church programs.
• Manage a portion of the church budget and assist with budgeting.
• Preach monthly and participate in worship planning.
• Provide pastoral care as needed and support Senior Pastor.

Responsibilities

• Lead Christian Education Committee with CE staff and volunteers.
• Develop a comprehensive CE program for all ages.
• Strengthen ministry to families through Sunday School and outreach.
• Evaluate and select curriculum for all ages.
• Recruit, train, and supervise Sunday School teachers.
• Collaborate with Beach Day School director for Church-School coordination.
• Support Confirmation Program with Youth Director.
