Job summary

Concord Public Schools and Concord-Carlisle Regional School District are seeking an Interim Willard Assistant Principal at Willard Elementary School in Concord, Massachusetts. The role centers on fostering a positive, inclusive school culture, promoting district vision, and supporting academic, social, and emotional growth for all students.

The assistant principal reports to the principal and collaborates with the leadership team to ensure excellence, engagement, and innovation across school

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting public education.
• Demonstrated ability to support and advocate for students with special needs and facilitate effective team meetings.
• Familiarity with research-based educational practices that promote academic excellence for all students.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Knowledge of student support services and strategies for improving student performance.
• Strong knowledge of technology and data analysis.
• Knowledge of special education law and regulations.
• Experience with literacy practices and programs is preferable.
• Appropriate DESE licensure is required (Assistant Principal/Principal).

Responsibilities

• Promote and articulate the district’s vision, mission, and school-based goals as outlined in the district strategic plan and school improvement plan.
• Lead with integrity, compassion, vision, and courage to inspire students, staff, and the community.
• Collaborate with the Principal to implement the district’s supervision and evaluation system for staff.
• Maintain a visible presence at key times during the school day and attend after-school programs and events to stay connected.
• Foster open, honest, and respectful communication with staff, parents, students, and community members.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with school-based leadership, district administration, and external stakeholders.
• Support the Principal in managing school facilities and services to ensure smooth operations.
• Oversee scheduling and instructional coverage for absent teachers and staff.
• Fill in for the Principal in their absence.
• Advocate for equitable access to education and opportunities for all students.
• Collaborate with the district DEIB director and school-based DEIB lead.
• Manage discipline referrals and work with faculty on behavior management strategies.
• Collaborate with transportation and MTSS teams on instruction and interventions.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams on curriculum development and assessments.
• Work with the Principal and teaching and learning department to ensure services for students with special needs.
• Assist in planning and facilitating professional development for staff.
• Develop the master schedule and coordinate assignments.
• Oversee intervention strategies to ensure high-quality instruction.
