Under the direction of the principal, assists in administering and supervising the total school program and provides educational leadership to students and staff,consistent with the community's educational goals. Functions include establishing a climate conducive to learning, planningand coordinating programs, effecting change, making decisions, and improving student achievement.
Thorough knowledge of New Haven Public Schools policies and procedures, the NHPS school curriculum, and state and federal regulations and laws. Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, organizational patterns, school operations, and pupil services. Ability to motivate, encourage, and work with staff to ensure outstanding performance as well as good morale. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent human relations skills.
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in supervision, educational administration, elementary school curriculum, or a closely related field. Five years of successful teaching experience, or other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience thatprovide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
Meets Connecticut Administrative Certification Requirements: 092 Certification
