Job summary

A well-established organization in San Diego seeks an Interim Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations, oversee month-end close, and mentor a small team in a collaborative environment.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, GAAP proficiency, and experience with MIP Accounting Software and Salesforce; advanced Excel, strong communication and leadership skills. Experience in nonprofit and grant accounting is a plus. Hybrid schedule: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Accounting management or supervisory experience (years flexible).
• Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles.
• Some exposure to fund accounting preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with MIP Accounting Software and Salesforce is required.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes
• Manage and mentor a small accounting team
• Review financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger activity
• Ensure GAAP compliance and support internal controls
• Assist with audits, grant reporting, and process improvements
• Partner with leadership on financial analysis and operational initiatives
