Job summary

HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital is forming a new Interfacility Transport team in the Charleston area. We are hiring Interfacility Transport Paramedics to safely treat and transport patients between multiple Trident Health facilities, including freestanding EDs, with night and day shifts and PRN opportunities.

As part of the Interfacility Transport Team, you will coordinate with EMS call centers, healthcare providers, and ED staff, ensuring readiness of ambulances and equipment while delivering

Qualifications

• 1 year of field Paramedic experience with EMS or clinical hospital experience
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support
• Driver's license with clean driving record
• EVOC - Emergency Vehicle Operations Course within 60 days of start

Responsibilities

• Respond to EMS Transport Center requests for interfacility transports across Trident Health facilities
• Provide primary care during interfacility transports in out-of-hospital settings
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care per SC scope of practice and hospital EMS protocols
• Perform ED duties with extensive knowledge of protocols, techniques, equipment and procedures
• Deliver EMS hand-off reports to nursing staff and ED physicians
• Ensure ambulance readiness and maintain equipment for service

We are staffing a NEW Interfacility Transport team to transport patients between our 4 Free Standing Emergency Departments and our 2 facilities, Trident Hospital and Summerville Hospital. We are growing our fleet with NEW state-of-the-art ambulances.

We have multiple EMT and Paramedic positions available, both night and day shift available. Plus we are adding PRN staff.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Interfacility Transport Paramedic will operate on the Interfacility Transport Team (IFT). The primary duty of the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will be the safe and effective treatment and transport of patients on the Interfacility Transport ambulance. The Interfacility Transport Paramedic will respond to EMS Call-Center requests, prioritize patient care, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately.

As needed, the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will function within the free-standing Emergency Departments and the main Emergency Department. While working in the Emergency Department, the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will collect and convey information to both their team members and the attending Physician regarding the health status of patients.

What you will do in this role:

• Responds to Trident Hospital EMS Transport Services Call-Center requests for the transport of patients from all Trident Health facilities
• Provides care in the out of hospital setting, serving as the primary care provider during interfacility transports
• Assesses, plans, implements intervention, and evaluates the appropriate level of patient care according to South Carolina scope of practice, HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital EMS Protocols, and HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital emergency department policies and procedures
• Performs diverse duties within the Emergency Department involving an extensive knowledge of protocols, medical techniques, equipment, and the use of a wide range of procedures
• Performs EMS hand off reports at facility destinations and reports appropriately to nursing staff and ED physicians
• Ensures readiness of ambulance and all associated equipment for service
• Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.

What qualifications you will need:

• Associates Degree in Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic or a Certificate of program completion in EMT/Paramedic is required.
• South Carolina Paramedic license required
• 1 year of experience as a field Paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt
• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt
• Drivers License with clean driving record
• EVOC-Emergency Vehicle Operations Course must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
