Job summary

HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital is creating an Interfacility Transport team to move patients between Trident Health facilities and provide care with new ambulances. Multiple EMT and Paramedic positions are available, with day, night, and PRN shifts.

The Paramedic will operate on the Interfacility Transport Team to ensure safe transport and effective treatment, coordinating with EMS call centers and ED staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate accepted for EMT/Paramedic training.
• SC Paramedic license is required.
• 1 year EMS field experience or hospital-based clinical experience preferred.
• ACLS, BLS, PALS certifications required.
• Driver's license with clean driving record.
• EVOC course must be obtained within 60 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Responds to EMS Call-Center requests for interfacility transports.
• Provides care in the out-of-hospital setting as primary provider during transports.
• Assess, plan and implement interventions per SC scope of practice and EMS protocols.
• Perform ED-related duties with knowledge of protocols and procedures.
• Complete EMS hand-off reports to nursing staff and ED physicians.

We are staffing a NEW Interfacility Transport team to transport patients between our 4 Free Standing Emergency Departments and our 2 facilities, Trident Hospital and Summerville Hospital. We are growing our fleet with NEW state-of-the-art ambulances.

We have multiple EMT and Paramedic positions available, both night and day shift available. Plus we are adding PRN staff.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Interfacility Transport Paramedic will operate on the Interfacility Transport Team (IFT). The primary duty of the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will be the safe and effective treatment and transport of patients on the Interfacility Transport ambulance. The Interfacility Transport Paramedic will respond to EMS Call-Center requests, prioritize patient care, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately.

As needed, the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will function within the free-standing Emergency Departments and the main Emergency Department. While working in the Emergency Department, the Interfacility Transport Paramedic will collect and convey information to both their team members and the attending Physician regarding the health status of patients.

What you will do in this role:

• Responds to Trident Hospital EMS Transport Services Call-Center requests for the transport of patients from all Trident Health facilities
• Provides care in the out of hospital setting, serving as the primary care provider during interfacility transports
• Assesses, plans, implements intervention, and evaluates the appropriate level of patient care according to South Carolina scope of practice, HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital EMS Protocols, and HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital emergency department policies and procedures
• Performs diverse duties within the Emergency Department involving an extensive knowledge of protocols, medical techniques, equipment, and the use of a wide range of procedures
• Performs EMS hand off reports at facility destinations and reports appropriately to nursing staff and ED physicians
• Ensures readiness of ambulance and all associated equipment for service
• Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.

What qualifications you will need:

• Associates Degree in Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic or a Certificate of program completion in EMT/Paramedic is required.
• South Carolina Paramedic license required
• 1 year of experience as a field Paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt
• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt
• Drivers License with clean driving record
• EVOC-Emergency Vehicle Operations Course must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
