Job summary

NASIC (National Air and Space Intelligence Center) in Ohio seeks a senior engineer/analyst to lead development and documentation of analysis on foreign weapons and aerospace systems. • Leads the development and documentation of analysis regarding foreign weapons. Performs and oversees a broad range of electronic and aerodynamic analysis and/or engineering assignments entailing unique problems, creative solutions, innovative use of techniques, advanced approaches and or new technology.
• As a recognized expert provides engineering and technical guidance, and advisory support. Leads and assists on projects and/or major project phases for broad and varied operations. Performs very complex, difficult assignments on an individual basis or as a team member/leader responsible for completing phases of an overall work effort.
• As a recognized expert, manages analytic partnerships. Initiates, develops, and directs technical intelligence research and analysis toward determining the limitations of foreign aerodynamic systems. Conceives and develops new methodologies for exploitation of technical intelligence data pertinent to countering foreign system developments.
• Ensures the quality and reliability of civilian, military, and contractor-produced Scientific and Technical Intelligence (S&TI) by leading comprehensive reviews and assessments; this includes rigorous validation of methodologies, data sources, and analytical conclusions to guarantee accuracy and compliance with established intelligence standards.
• Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency through professional interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research and development organizations, and participation in formal training programs. Keeps current on emerging technological and scientific techniques and research methods through independent study and reading/reviewing electronic engineering journals and current literature.

Qualifications

This is an Interdisciplinary position that may be filled as a General Engineer, GG-0801-14, Mechanical Engineer, GG-0830-14, Electronics Engineer GG-0855-14, or Aerospace Engineer, GG-0861-14 in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-14 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Senior" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-14 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

To qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements describes in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

GENERAL ENGINEER/ MECHANICAL ENGINEER/ ELECTRONICS ENGINEER/ AEROSPACE ENGINEER GG-0801/0830/0855/0861-14

• Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress‑strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

• Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. • Knowledge of NASIC, agency, AF. DoD, and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s).
• Skill, judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and ability to foresee the impact of changing technology and in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, investigate, and resolve complex issues or problems.
