Job summary

JD Ross Energy seeks an Interconnection Manager in Virginia to lead utility interconnection activities and guide projects from screening to pre-construction readiness. You will work with utilities, consultants, EPC partners, and internal teams to optimize interconnection pathways and drive timely approvals.

The role requires a engineering or related degree and 2–5+ years in renewable energy development, with strong project management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy, Business, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• 2–5+ years in renewable energy development, interconnection, utility operations, engineering, EPC, or consulting environments.
• Strong understanding of utility interconnection processes for solar and energy storage projects.
• Proven project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and secure utility capacity opportunities to support new solar and storage developments.
• Prepare, submit, and manage interconnection applications with engineering/consulting partners.
• Oversee interconnection studies, analyze results, and provide recommendations for development decisions.
• Support site design, energy production modeling, and technical planning requirements.
• Coordinate activities to advance projects after Interconnection Agreement execution.
• Provide technical guidance on equipment selection, system design, and project optimization.
• Collaborate with utilities, consultants, EPCs, and internal development teams to ensure efficient progression.
• Track interconnection milestones, risks, and timelines across multiple projects.

They are seeking an Interconnection Manager to play a critical role in advancing their growing project portfolio. This individual will lead utility interconnection activities, manage studies and applications, and provide technical guidance throughout the development lifecycle. Working closely with utilities, consultants, EPC partners, and internal stakeholders, the Interconnection Manager will help drive projects from initial screening through interconnection approvals and pre-construction readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and secure utility capacity opportunities to support new solar and storage developments.
• Prepare, submit, and manage interconnection applications in coordination with engineering and consulting partners.
• Oversee interconnection studies, analyze results, and provide recommendations to support project development decisions.

• Provide technical expertise on equipment selection, system design, and project optimization.
• Collaborate with utilities, consultants, EPC contractors, and internal development teams to ensure efficient project progression.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy, Business, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• 2-5+ years of experience within renewable energy development, interconnection, utility operations, engineering, EPC, or consulting environments.
• Strong understanding of utility interconnection processes for solar and energy storage projects.
• Proven project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced development environment.
• Experience working with utilities, developers, consultants, or EPC firms is highly preferred.
