Interconnection Manager - Renewable Energy Developer
About the Company: A leading national renewable energy developer, owner, and operator is expanding its portfolio of distributed solar and clean energy projects across the US. With a strong operational and construction portfolio of over 300 MW and a growing pipeline exceeding 1 GW, the organization continues to scale responsibly, backed by a major global infrastructure investment partner.
Role Overview: The Interconnection Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of project interconnection across multiple ISOs and utilities, ensuring successful execution from application through commissioning. This role requires deep technical and regulatory expertise, strategic risk management, and strong leadership to drive project success across a fast-growing national platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of developers in injection capacity analysis and interconnection processes, managing fees, risks, and securities from submission to commissioning.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, transmission service providers, and consultants.
- Oversee interconnection applications, studies, and agreements for projects under 5MW.
- Advise development teams on interconnection risks and strategies to achieve construction readiness.
- Manage multiple projects at varying stages of development while ensuring compliance with deadlines and regulatory requirements.
- Review technical aspects of interconnection related project equipment and utility standards.
- Contribute to internal process optimization related to interconnection and project execution.
- Manage consultants and ensure deliverables align with project schedules.
- Conduct due diligence on project acquisitions and report findings on feasibility and cost.
- Oversee acquisition of Right of Way (ROW) easements to support utility designs.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in renewable energy interconnection or utility coordination.
- Strong knowledge of interconnection processes and regulations (PJM, NYISO, MISO, ISO-NE)
- Proven track record managing interconnection projects end to end.
- Strong technical understanding of project equipment and utility requirements.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Proficiency with software tools for distribution and injection capacity analysis.
Location
- Hybrid role based ideally in the Tri-State area.
- Expectation to work onsite approximately one week per month (Tues–Thurs).
- Seeking candidates experienced in hybrid or remote work environments.
