Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Junior Interceptor Test Engineer to join the Defense Systems, Systems Integration and Test Team. You will execute test plans for hardware development, qualification, and acceptance, and support HWIL test platforms to verify requirements.

The role requires a BS with 2–4 years of experience (or MS with less) and an active DoD Secret clearance. Proficiency with test equipment, software testing, and data analysis tools, plus the ability to work with customers

Qualifications

• BS degree with 2–4 years of related experience, or MS with <2 years' experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance (US citizenship required).
• Experience developing and executing hardware or software test plans and procedures.
• Hands-on experience with hardware, software, or system integration, troubleshooting and testing.
• Defense or commercial test engineering practices and processes.

Responsibilities

• Execute test plans for development, qualification, and acceptance phases of hardware projects.
• Create, modify, and use HWIL test platforms to satisfy testing requirements.
• Complete requirements verification and validation documentation and reports.
• Perform test data analysis via data log parser, Wireshark, and/or software debug tools.
• Debug software and hardware with various tools.
• Work directly with the customer and other support personnel.
• Position may require working outside in all weather conditions and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Position may require minimal travel for test events (~4 weeks per year).

Leidos’ Defense Systems, Systems Integration and Test Team is seeking a Junior Interceptor Test Engineer. We work to implement unique solutions for complex problems in the defense sector, including kinetic and directed energy defensive and offensive platforms as well as radar and other surveillance and sensor technologies.

Primary Responsibilities

• Executing test plans for development, qualification, and acceptance phases of hardware projects.
• Creating, modifying, and using Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop (HWIL) test platforms to satisfy testing requirements.
• Completing requirements verification and validation documentation and reports.
• Performing test data analysis via data log parser, Wireshark, and/or software debug tools.
• Debugging software and hardware with various tools.
• Working directly with the customer and other support personnel on the aforementioned responsibilities.
• Position may require working outside in all weather conditions and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Position may require minimal travel for test events (approximately 4 weeks a year).

Basic Qualifications

• BS degree and 2–4 years of prior relevant experience, or Master’s degree with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience; additional education, experience, or training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Knowledge of and experience with defense or commercial test engineering practices and processes.
• Experience developing and executing hardware or software test plans and procedures.
• Direct, hands‑on experience with hardware, software, or system integration, troubleshooting and testing.
• Active DoD Secret clearance. (U.S. Citizenship required)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ESS, HALT, HASS, Mil Std 461, Mil Std 464, Mil Std 810, and/or CE compliance testing.
• Working knowledge and operation of electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, voltmeter, signal analyzer/generator).
• Working knowledge of software languages Python, C, C++, C#, and/or firmware languages for Xilinx or Altera devices.
• Experience with Linux, Matlab, LabVIEW, and Wireshark.
• Experience preparing and presenting briefings and/or demonstrations to customers and management.
• Planning and executing demonstration tests and U.S. Government test ranges/facilities.

Pay Range

$69,550.00 – $125,725.00
