Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Intensivist to join the ICU team at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC. The APP delivers direct care to critically ill adults, orders and interprets tests, and assists in coordination of the care plan under physician supervision.

Rotating 12‑hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, with an emphasis on evidence‑based practice and research, while supporting family communication and education.

Qualifications

• PA: ARC-accredited Master’s Degree or DSc Physician Assistant Program preferred
• NP: Graduate of an accredited MSN or DNP Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program for adults
• PA/NP certification: PA-C or NP certification is expected

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients with multi-organ trauma or multi-system disease/failure
• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests and laboratory studies
• Document findings and treatment plans in the medical record
• Explain procedures and prepare patients and families for interventions
• Prescribe interventions and medications within prescriptive authority
• Lead and participate in quality/performance improvement activities
