Job summary

A child welfare organization is seeking Social Workers to engage in direct child welfare practice in North Carolina, mainly in Charlotte. The role requires a minimum of 5 years' experience in child welfare services, with a focus on backlog assessments and family support services. Professionals will work flexible hours and collaborate with counties to improve child welfare delivery. The ideal candidates should have strong technology skills and a deep understanding of North Carolina's child welfare policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a North Carolina CPS Social Worker or Supervisor.
• Deep knowledge of NC child welfare policy, practice standards, and CQI processes.
• Strong technology skills and ability to work independently.
• Strong knowledge of NC child welfare policy, practice standards, CQI processes, and family engagement.
• Willingness to travel across North Carolina and maintain flexible work hours.

Responsibilities

• Engage in direct child welfare practice.
• Complete backlog assessment cases and conduct assessment initiations.
• Support Family In-Home Services and Permanency Planning.
• Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call rotations.
• Ensure practice aligns with federal and state law, policy, and best practices.

We are actively recruiting across North Carolina, with an immediate focus in the Charlotte, NC area and surrounding counties.

As a member of the Intensive Support Social Work Team (ISSWT), you will engage in direct child welfare practice, including:

• Completing backlog assessment cases
• Conducting assessment initiations
• Supporting Family In-Home Services and Permanency Planning through visits, case planning, and related activities
• Participating in after-hours and weekend on-call rotations
• Ensuring practice aligns with federal and state law, policy, and best practices
• Partnering with counties to carry cases (anticipated expansion in 2026)

Required Competencies & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a North Carolina CPS Social Worker or Supervisor
• Forensic training preferred
• Must not have been employed by Mecklenburg County DSS within the past 3 years (to ensure contract compliance and avoid conflicts of interest)
• Deep knowledge of NC child welfare policy, practice standards, CQI processes, and family engagement
• Strong technology skills and ability to work independently while representing company values
• Demonstrated ability to:
