Impact Life is seeking a credentialed Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Counselor to join our Georgetown Outpatient team in Delaware. The IOP Counselor delivers evidence-based individual, group, and family counseling, conducts assessments, formulates treatment plans, and coordinates care across providers to support client recovery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field required.
• Active Delaware credential as a CADC.
• Knowledge of behavioral health treatment, substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and evidence-based clinical practices.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling for clients in the Intensive Outpatient Program.
• Facilitate structured therapeutic groups using evidence-based practices for SUD and co-occurring disorders.
• Complete biopsychosocial assessments and ongoing clinical assessments to determine needs and levels of care.
• Develop individualized treatment and recovery plans.
• Monitor and document client progress toward goals and adjust plans as needed.
• Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment when necessary.
• Coordinate care with case managers, providers, and community partners.
• Educate clients and families on SUD, relapse prevention, and wellness.
• Discharge planning and referrals to continuing care and services.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the EHR.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision, and quality improvement.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Counselor

Location: Georgetown, Delaware

Position Overview

Impact Life is seeking a credentialed Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Counselor to join our Georgetown Outpatient team. The IOP Counselor provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment services to individuals participating in our Intensive Outpatient Program, with a focus on substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

This position provides evidence-based individual, group, and family counseling and is responsible for assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention, care coordination, clinical documentation, and supporting clients throughout their recovery.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling for clients enrolled in the Intensive Outpatient Program.
• Facilitate structured therapeutic groups utilizing evidence-based practices for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
• Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and ongoing clinical assessments to determine treatment needs and appropriate levels of care.
• Develop individualized treatment and recovery plans based on client needs, strengths, and clinical recommendations.
• Monitor and document client progress toward treatment goals and adjust treatment plans as clinically appropriate.
• Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment when necessary.
• Coordinate care with case managers, peer recovery specialists, medical providers, and community partners to support continuity of care.
• Educate clients and families on substance use disorders, recovery principles, relapse prevention strategies, and behavioral health wellness.
• Conduct discharge planning and referrals to appropriate continuing care, treatment, and recovery support services.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation within the organization’s electronic health record system.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical supervision, program development, and quality improvement activities.
• Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory, licensing, payer, confidentiality, and organizational requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required.
• Active Delaware credential as a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor (CADC).
• Knowledge of behavioral health treatment, substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and evidence-based clinical practices.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field preferred.
• Active Delaware license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Profesional Counselor of Mental Health (LPCMH).
• Three or more years of experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or a related clinical setting.
• Experience providing individual and group therapy.
• Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Experience utilizing evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Relapse Prevention, and trauma-informed care.
