Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Bilingual in Yup’ik and English preferred.

• Ability to carry out activities with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to ongoing training as required by state law.
• Ability to communicate with teachers, students and parents.
• Ability to keep accurate records and reports.
• Must complete 6 hours of yearly training.
• Must live and work in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan environment.
• Must perform duties as described for the role.

Responsibilities

• Under teacher supervision, prepare for activities for specific students.
• Work with students to present and reinforce lessons.
• Set up and operate equipment for students.
• Assist students with daily living skills.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, supervise tests and makeup work.
• Participate in in-service trainings related to students.
• Assist with supervision during lunch, assemblies, play, and field trips.
• Alert teacher to problems or special information about students.
• Maintain ethics and confidentiality of students and staff.
• Maintain responsibility and positive attitude toward students and staff.
• Perform other related duties as required.
