Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Bilingual in Yup’ik and English preferred.
• Experience with special needs in school setting preferred.
• Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to participate in required trainings.
• Effective communication with teachers, students and parents.
• Maintain accurate records and reports.
• Mandatory 6 hours of yearly State Law training.
• Ability to live/work in rural Alaskan environment.
• Ability to carry out duties as described.

Responsibilities

• Under teacher supervision, prepare activities for specific students.
• Assist with students to present and reinforce lessons.
• Set up and operate equipment for students.
• Assist students with daily living skills.
• Check notebooks, correct papers, supervise tests and makeup work.
• Participate in in-service training related to students.
• Supervise students during lunch, assemblies, play periods, field trips.
• Notify teacher of any problems or important information.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional behavior.
• Demonstrate responsibility and positive attitude toward students and staff.
• Perform other related duties as required.
