Job summary

The Bronx District Attorney's Office seeks an Intelligence Analyst assigned to the Domestic Violence Bureau under the NYS STRIVE grant. You will gather and analyze data to build crime trend models and provide actionable intelligence for prosecution strategies.

Role requires strong data mapping skills, familiarity with GIS tools, and ability to communicate results to legal and investigative teams; court testimony may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation and 3 years in community work or related duties.
  • Equivalent education/experience to meet above.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in data science, math/statistics, CS or criminal justice.
  • Two years related experience preferred.
  • Formal intelligence analysis experience/certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and process data to model crime trends and intelligence.
  • Develop intelligence‑driven prosecution strategies.
  • Present results to legal, investigative, and support teams.
  • Provide intelligence, analytical, and investigative support as needed.
  • Support Domestic Violence Bureau and Strategic Innovations Division.
  • Communicate findings clearly and testify in court if required.

Overview

The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By “Pursuing Justice with Integrity,” the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. Moreover, the BXDA aims to balance the need to seek appropriate punishment for certain crimes while recognizing when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. By recognizing these significant distinctions and acting accordingly, BXDA has established a standard of excellence in the representation of the Bronx community at large, which continues to grow stronger every day.

Crime Strategies Bureau

In furtherance of this mission, the Crime Strategies Bureau (CSB), located within the Strategic Innovations Division, works closely with the New York Police Department, other law enforcement agencies, and members of the community to identify groups and individuals most responsible for committing crimes that impact our community, with a specific focus on violent crime.

Position Summary

This position is specifically for an Intelligence Analyst who will be assigned full-time to the Domestic Violence Bureau pursuant to the NYS DCJS STRIVE grant.

Responsibilities
  • Gather, analyze, and process data using industry-current and in‑house applications to produce a complete model of crime trends and actionable intelligence in the Bronx and surrounding areas.
  • Assist in developing and implementing intelligence‑driven prosecution strategies.
  • Interpret the results of intelligence and statistical analysis through presentations of data at meetings or through consultation with legal, investigative, and support personnel.
  • Perform a full range of intelligence, analytical, and investigative support when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the Strategic Innovations Division and Special Victims Division, specifically the Domestic Violence Bureau.
  • Demonstrate superior organizational, time‑management, writing, and communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” above.
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in data science, mathematics/statistics, computer science, or criminal justice).
  • Two years related experience preferred.
  • Formal intelligence analysis experience and/or certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; advanced Excel experience (pivot tables, charts, functions, etc.) preferred.
  • Strong skillset in data mapping, including geocoding photo editing.
  • Quick learner regarding new technology tools and software.
  • Experience using Photoshop, ArcGIS, i2 Analyst Notebook, Palantir, etc. a plus.
  • Capable of building institutional relationships with community residents and organizations, police, and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate investigative results to other team members and to testify in court if necessary.
  • Criminal justice system experience preferred.
  • Must be able to adhere to strict requirements regarding legal records management, data protection, and privacy/confidentiality.
