UM Ventures, College Park seeks an Intellectual Property Associate to maintain IP protection by reviewing invention disclosures and drafting IP-related documents. This role reports to the Assistant Director, Operations and requires attention to deadlines, accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration.
Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and at least one year drafting patent prosecution materials, with strong written and oral communication skills and knowledge of IP regulations.

Job Description Summary: UM Ventures provides in-house technology commercialization capability to complement the research administrative support services provided to the University's research community. The Intellectual Property (IP) Associate is responsible for maintaining appropriate intellectual property protection by: reviewing invention disclosure information, drafting and preparing various administrative and IP related documentation, and monitoring the database for accuracy and integrity so deadlines are satisfied. The Intellectual Property Associate reports to the Assistant Director, Operations.
Physical Demands: Sedentary work performed in a normal office environment; exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Ability to attend meetings both on and off campus. Spending long hours in front of a computer screen.
