Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking an Agreements Associate to draft and negotiate NDA, MTA, Data Use, and related IP agreements in alignment with UC policies and DOE requirements.

You will work under the Agreements Manager to facilitate collaborations with academic institutions, federal labs, and industry partners, ensuring proper contract language and compliance, while reporting results and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent in education and experience.
• 2 years related legal/licensing experience.
• Ability to draft and negotiate Non-disclosure, Material Transfer, Data Use Agreements and related IP agreements.
• Ability to negotiate optimal outcomes for complex agreements.
• Judgment to consult subject matter experts as needed.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a caseload under deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Team-player and collaborator across teams.

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate Non-Disclosure Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Data Use Agreements, and related IP agreements.
• Use Berkeley Lab standard agreements or conform external agreements to Lab requirements; obtain manager review before finalizing.
• Maintain database entries on pending/executed agreements and provide periodic reports.
• Represent Berkeley Lab on UC-wide/DOE groups as needed.
• Interact with scientists, engineers, and legal/business stakeholders worldwide to negotiate terms.
