Job summary

Vast in Long Beach is seeking an Integration Technician on the 2nd shift to support the build of artificial-gravity space stations. You will assemble, install, and test flight hardware, following procedures and drawings, and interact with production engineers and quality staff.

The role demands hands-on tool use, interpretation of drawings, and strict adherence to ESD and safety standards. Travel to remote testing sites and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6+ years of hardware assembly, test, and/or installation.
  • Experience in aerospace or high-reliability environments preferred.
  • FAA A&P license preferred.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, and test flight hardware per procedures and instructions.
  • Read and interpret drawings and follow work instructions to execute integration tasks.
  • Operate precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers).
  • Handle both large and small assemblies with care and attention to safety.
  • Perform high-pressure pneumatic testing and use various hand and power tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers and quality personnel to document integration activities.
  • Maintain compliance with ESD best practices and safety standards.

Vast is looking for an Integration Technician, 2nd Shift, reporting to the Supervisor, Integration, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

This will be a full-time, non-exempt position in our Long Beach location.

Shift
  • 2nd shift: 2:00pm - 10:30pm
Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install, and test flight hardware in accordance with procedures, specifications, and test instructions
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and follow detailed work instructions to execute integration operations
  • Operate precision calibrated tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers
  • Perform hands-on operations with both large and small fragile assemblies, maintaining careful handling throughout
  • Perform high-pressure pneumatic testing
  • Operate various mechanical hand and power tools without supervision
  • Collaborate with production engineers and quality personnel to develop, execute, and document integration activities
  • Maintain compliance with standard industry ESD best practices during all operations
  • Ensure all work is performed on time, safely, and to the highest quality standards
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support an efficient and effective work environment
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 6+ years of experience in hardware assembly, test, and/or installation
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military, or other high-reliability operating environments
  • Experience in the assembly and testing of propulsion systems, avionics components, and harnesses
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license
  • Experience working with flight hardware in a fast-paced production environment
  • Skilled in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and reports
  • NASA-STD-8739.3 and NASA-STD-8739.4 certification (currently or previously held)
  • IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-620, and IPC-J-STD-001 certification (currently or previously held)
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment
  • Experience operating forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with engineering and production personnel
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing roles and responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
  • Proficiency with computers, including MS Office and Google Workspace
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed to support critical mission milestones
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted
  • Ability to climb ladders and work comfortably in tight or confined spaces
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods (weeks at a time) to support vehicle testing and integration at remote sites including Mojave, Ohio, and Florida

Pay Range: California

$23—$57 USD
