Job description

Vital Incite is a dynamic, quickly growing company with a strong mission to improve the efficiency of healthcare. We are searching for an experienced Integration Specialist to join our Data Integrations team and help us deliver accurate, timely, and meaningful healthcare data for our clients.

This exempt role partners closely with the Director of Data Integrations, Integration Team Lead, Technology, Data, and external partners to diagnose and resolve healthcare data exchange and processing issues. The ideal candidate enjoys technical investigation, working with SQL and file layouts, determining where a file or process has broken down, and coordinating the right partners to move an issue through resolution.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Own initial triage of file transmission, receipt, processing, and load issues across recurring healthcare data feeds
  • Determine where a file or transaction failed, stalled, duplicated, or deviated from expected processing by reviewing available evidence and system history
  • Differentiate transport, configuration, format, mapping, data-quality, and downstream load concerns and route work to the appropriate owner with clear findings
  • Use SQL, file analytics, layouts, control totals, and processing history to investigate missing, incomplete, rejected, or unexpected data
  • Evaluate healthcare files for structural, content, delimiter, encoding, naming, or population issues that may prevent successful processing
  • Validate whether loaded data reconciles to source files and expected controls, and document the scope and likely cause of discrepancies
  • Work with internal technology teams and external data providers to resolve failures in file exchange, transmission, receipt, or downstream loading
  • Monitor recurring data feeds, file‑arrival expectations, and processing outcomes
  • Translate technical findings into clear updates for operational, client‑facing, and leadership stakeholders
  • Contribute to troubleshooting playbooks, escalation standards, validation routines, operational dashboards, and root‑cause analysis practices

This position can either be a hybrid position local to the Indianapolis Metro area, or remote with a work schedule aligned to the Eastern Time Zone.

Qualifications
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 4+ years of experience working with healthcare data, including claims, eligibility, clinical, ancillary, or related datasets
  • Familiarity with secure file exchange, recurring batch‑feed concepts, and healthcare data formats such as HIPAA X12 or HL7 is required.
  • Hands‑on experience with data integration, data validation, implementation, or data operations
  • Experience working with external data sources, vendors, carriers, or solution partners
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex workflows and problem‑solve effectively
  • Strong Excel skills for data manipulation, validation, reconciliation, and analysis
  • Familiarity with data structures, file layouts, mapping concepts, and control totals
  • Strong SQL skills for tracing records, reconciling counts, identifying anomalies, and isolating processing issues
  • Strong Excel and flat‑file analysis skills
  • Experience with ticketing, monitoring, ETL, managed file transfer, or load‑control tools is a plus
  • Structured troubleshooting, clear written communication, and disciplined documentation
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently while maintaining momentum through resolution
