Job summary

Mapfre is seeking a software engineer to participate in design discussions and collaborate with architects to deliver high-quality software. You will implement complex solutions following best practices and write comprehensive tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
• 3+ years of experience in a programming language and software development principles.
• API strategy, API management and API design experience.
• Experience building microservices and understanding patterns.
• 2+ years RESTful, SOAP, or MQ services (Java/J2EE/JSON/WSDL/XML; Spring).
• Experience with Spring, Spring Boot and Spring MVC; relational DBs (Oracle/SQL Server).

Responsibilities

• Participates in technical design discussions, proposing design solutions
• Collaborates with architects and senior engineers to ensure solutions meet business needs and technical feasibility
• Develops, implements, and tests complex software solutions following coding standards, best practices, and test-driven development principles
• Writes comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to functional requirements
• Participates in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code adheres to coding standards and best practices
• Builds solutions aligned with Mapfre's IT strategy, translating business goals into technical requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field
• Required 3+ years of experience in a relevant programming language and basic software development principles
• Receives close supervision from senior engineers and team leads
• Solution delivery expertise in API Strategy, API Management and API design
• Experience in building Microservices and understanding of Microservice patterns & concepts
• 2+ years RESTful, SOAP, or MQ Services experience using a mix of the following: Java, J2EE, JSON, WSDL, XML and Spring
• Experience with Spring and Spring Boot, Spring MVC
• Experience with Relational Databases: Oracle or SQL Server
• Experience with Web Services: JSON, REST, JAX-RS, Spring based REST services
