Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space in Huntsville, Alabama is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a key interface among requirements, design, subsystem engineering, system engineering and production teams.

You will perform systems integration, test planning and implementation, coordinating the planning, organizing, control, integration and completion of engineering projects within your area of responsibility. A strong emphasis on on-site testing, data reviews and continuous improvement is expected.

As a Systems Engineer you will serve as a key interface between the requirements, design, subsystem engineering, system engineering, and production teams.

In This Role You Will

• Perform systems integration, test planning and implementation
• Coordinate the planning, organizing, control, integration, and completion of Engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility
• Support test activities on site
• Perform data reviews and provide feedback to test and integration teams
• Find opportunities for build flow and test efficiencies

Designs power system facilities and equipment and coordinates construction, operation and maintenance of electric power generating, receiving and distribution systems and equipment. Designs and plans layout of generating plants, transmission and distribution lines, receiving and distribution stations. Coordinates operation and maintenance activities to ensure optimum use of power systems facilities to meet energy demands.

Basic Qualifications

• Excellent leadership skills and whole systems thinking
• Breadth of knowledge and work experience implementing systems engineering standard methodologies and lessons learned
• Knowledge of Systems Engineering processes and Systems Integration functions which may include:
• System trade studies and/or System modeling
• Requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development
• System Integration, Test and/or Verification
• Test planning and implementation with an
• understanding of all the interdependencies

• Design reviews

Desired Skills

• Validated understanding of systems thinking skills and behaviors
• System design and test experience with one or more subsystems or fields outside of Systems Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Propulsion, RF, Software, etc.)
• Experience with operations design
• Ability to absorb extensive technical detail and logically formulate solutions for implementation on an inflexible schedule, often requiring integration of conflicting and, at times, incomplete data
• Demonstrated experience of good judgment and programmatic implementation vital to meet technical requirements while balancing schedules and budget obligations
• Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and take on numerous roles as part of the daily program operations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent social skills, with the ability to lead multi-functional teams, shape meaningful relationships with team members and deliver consensus among peers
• Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve very complex problems and implement constructive change
• Active Secret security clearance with investigation in the last 5 years
• Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
