Job summary

Autism Society of North Carolina is seeking an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to provide clinical care, care coordination, and advocacy for individuals with autism across the state.

Based in our Raleigh office, the role includes psychotherapy, care management consultation, staff education, and collaboration with regional partners to ensure coordinated services; salary ranges from $70,000 to $85,000 per year.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work required.
  • Full NC LCSW licensure or eligibility by employment date.
  • Minimum three years of Medicaid care management or care coordination experience.
  • Experience with mental health, autism/IDD services, and social determinants of health.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical resource for staff, clients, families, providers, and community partners navigating autism, IDD, behavioral health, and care coordination needs.
  • Offer clinical consultation, resource guidance, and strategies for overcoming barriers to care.
  • Collaborate with ASNC leaders and interdisciplinary teams to improve workflows and service delivery.
  • Educate clients and guardians about rights, treatment options, payer requirements, and ASNC programs.
  • Provide diagnostic and outpatient psychotherapy services as appropriate.
  • Serve as Clinical Liaison for Tailored Care Management, including complex needs and discharge planning.
  • Deliver workshops and staff education to build knowledge and confidence.
  • Coordinate with regional leaders and care teams to connect individuals with coordinated supports.
  • Use NC HealthConnex, NC*Notify, and NCCARE360 for care collaboration.

Are you an experienced LCSW who thrives at the intersection of clinical care, care coordination, advocacy, and systems navigation? The Autism Society of North Carolina is seeking a collaborative Licensed Clinical Social Worker to serve as a trusted clinical resource for individuals with autism, families, staff, and community partners across the state.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a trusted clinical resource for staff, clients, families, providers, and community partners navigating autism, IDD, behavioral health, and care coordination needs.
  • Support complex or high-risk client situations by offering clinical consultation, resource guidance, and practical strategies for overcoming barriers to care.
  • Partner with ASNC leaders and interdisciplinary teams to strengthen workflows, improve coordination, and promote consistent service delivery across departments.
  • Educate clients and legal guardians about rights, responsibilities, treatment options, payer requirements, ASNC programs, and available community-based supports.
  • Provide diagnostic and/or outpatient psychotherapy services as appropriate based on scope of practice and licensure.
  • Serve as Clinical Liaison for ASNC’s Tailored Care Management team, including consultation on co-occurring mental health or substance use diagnoses, discharge planning, and complex health-related resource needs.
  • Deliver workshops, staff education, and presentations that build knowledge and confidence across internal teams and external partners.
  • Collaborate with regional leaders, clinical professionals, Autism Resource Specialists, care teams, providers, and community partners to help individuals and families access coordinated support.
  • Use statewide coordination platforms, including NC HealthConnex, NC*Notify, and NCCARE360, to support care collaboration and resource connection.
What You’ll Bring
  • The strongest candidates will combine sound clinical judgment with compassion, credibility, and a practical understanding of the systems families must navigate to access care.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work.
  • Full licensure in good standing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) issued by the NC Social Work Certification and Licensure Board, or eligibility for North Carolina licensure if relocating from another state, with full licensure required by the date of employment.
  • At least three years of experience providing Medicaid care management, case management, or care coordination for the population served.
  • Experience with mental health services, autism/IDD services, and social drivers of health resources in North Carolina.
  • Knowledge of North Carolina’s public health system, LME/MCOs, IDD eligibility, IDD/MH resources, NC START, DSOHF, hospital systems, and related statewide support systems.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, negotiation, project management, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to build trust with clients, families, staff, providers, community partners, and leadership teams.
