Job description

About the Role and Impact

As a Behavioral Health Intake Specialist, you are often the first point of connection for individuals seeking support, and that first interaction matters. This role plays a key part in shaping each client’s experience from the very beginning, helping them feel heard, supported, and confident in what comes next.

You will guide individuals and families through the intake process with empathy and clarity, completing screenings, using clinical judgment to assess needs, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team. Your work ensures each client is connected to the right level of care at the right time, creating a strong foundation for their treatment journey.

If you are someone who combines strong clinical judgment with a genuine passion for helping others, this role offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact. We offer supervised clinical experience that will support your progress toward licensure, while helping you build confidence in assessment, care coordination, and clinical decision making in a supportive, growth focused environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct comprehensive initial screenings to understand each client’s history, needs, and goals
  • Utilize ASAM criteria to support level of care determinations (without completing full ASAM assessments)
  • Administer screening tools and gather relevant clinical information
  • Provide clear guidance, education, and support to clients and their families
  • Coordinate referrals to providers, support groups, and community resources to ensure continuity of care
  • Provide crisis support when needed, including coordination of emergency services
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to review cases and coordinate care
  • Stay current on best practices and evidence-based approaches in behavioral health
What You’ll Bring
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in behavioral health or a related field
  • Experience working with both children and adult populations
  • Eligibility for Agency Affiliated Counselor status
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly
  • Solid understanding of mental health conditions and treatment approaches
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with electronic health records and clinical documentation
What You’ll Get
  • The ability to focus on meaningful client care, with operational support behind you
  • A collaborative, team driven environment where people show up for each other
  • A culture built on growth, accountability, and engagement
  • Work that makes a real difference in the lives of individuals and families
  • Ongoing opportunities to grow your clinical skills and advance your career
Benefits
  • 12 paid holidays plus 2 floating holidays
  • Up to 2 weeks PTO in your first year, based on hours worked
  • Up to 6.5 days paid sick leave, based on hours worked
  • Retirement plan with competitive matching
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Employer paid life insurance
  • Flexible work options and employee support resources
