POSITION OVERVIEW
The Intake and Recruitment Specialist will be responsible for conducting initial client intakes, assessing eligibility, and providing recruitment support for a workforce development program focused on refugees. The Specialist will ensure that clients receive the necessary information and resources to achieve their employment and training goals. The Specialist is based in the office headquarters and frequently travels locally within NYC to conduct outreach and recruitment activities.
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Marketing: Create and develop comprehensive, engaging, and targeted hard copy and digital materials to reach, engage, and recruit eligible refugees.
- Community Outreach: Develop and attend job fairs, program orientations, and community outreach activities for the recruitment of the eligible refugee populations.
- Partnerships: Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations and service providers for cross-referral opportunities and support services.
- Client Intake: Conduct comprehensive intake interviews to assess clients' needs, goals, and eligibility for program services.
- Eligibility Determination: Screen client documents and determine eligibility for program services.
- Service Coordination: Provide clear explanations of program services and complete the intake process for clients interested in a workforce development program.
- Scheduling: Schedule comprehensive assessment appointments with Case Managers.
- Documentation: Accurately document client information and maintain comprehensive client records.
- Referrals: Make appropriate referrals to internal and external resources based on clients' needs.
- Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for clients, ensuring they have access to necessary services and resources.
- Data Entry and Reporting: Enter documentation into the assigned databases and provide data for program reports.
- Collaboration: Work together with other EBOF Intake and Recruitment staff to coordinate services in an effective and efficient manner in keeping with program and government guidelines. 413 East 120th Street, Suite 401 New York, NY 10035 (P) 212.427.7080
- Training and Development: Participate in staff training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Associates Degree in Marketing, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is preferred. A commensurate combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Outreach/Recruitment Experience: At least one year of experience in conducting outreach and recruitment for human service and/or workforce development programs within a multicultural or refugee resettlement setting.
- Intake Experience: At least 6 months of demonstrated experience providing intake services for human service and/or workforce development programs within a multicultural or refugee resettlement setting.
- Cultural Competency: Experience working with diverse populations, including refugees and immigrants, and an understanding of the cultural, social, and economic challenges they face.
- Knowledge of Immigration Laws: Familiarity with immigration laws, refugee rights, and the resettlement process.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English and proficiency in one or more languages spoken by the refugee population in New York City (e.g., Arabic, Spanish, French, etc) is preferred.
- Community Resources: Demonstrated knowledge and experience with local community resources, services, and organizations that support refugees, such as housing, healthcare, education, and employment assistance.
- Advocacy Skills: Experience advocating for clients' rights and needs, including navigating complex systems and securing necessary services.
- Emotional Support: Ability to provide emotional support and crisis intervention when needed using an empowerment-based, family development approach.
- Data Management: Demonstrated experience with maintaining accurate hard copy and digital client records and regularly reporting on clients' progress.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills and strong computer skills within a Windows/Office 365 based work environment.
