Job summary

University Behavioral Health of Denton, part of Universal Health Services, seeks an Intake Counselor to perform telephonic and in-person risk assessments and coordinate referrals and admissions. You will verify insurance benefits and maintain communication with referral sources, families and unit staff.

This PRN position offers exposure to a range of behavioral health services and opportunities to grow within a large healthcare system.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in psychology, social work or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice in Texas as LPC-Associate, LPC, LMSW, LCSW or RN.

Responsibilities

• Provide telephonic and in-person risk assessments to determine level of care.
• Serve as the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients; coordinate referral and intake.
• Facilitate admission process and maintain communication with families, patients and staff.
• Verify and obtain prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed.

Position Summary:

The Intake Counselor provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake Counselor is the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. The Intake Counselor is responsible for the verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed.
