Job summary

The Intake Counselor at University Behavioral Health of Denton provides telephonic and in-person risk assessments to help physicians determine the appropriate level of care for potential patients. You will be the first contact with referral sources and patients, coordinate referrals and the intake process, and support admissions.

You will verify benefits and obtain prior authorizations as needed, communicating with families, referral sources and unit staff to ensure smooth transitions into care

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in psychology, social work or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice as a LPC-Associate, LPC, LMSW, LCSW or RN in the State of Texas.

Position Summary

The Intake Counselor provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake Counselor is the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. The Intake Counselor is responsible for the verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed.
