Job summary

JourneyPure at The River is seeking an Intake Counselor to guide prospective and incoming patients through the admissions process. You will be the first point of contact, ensuring a welcoming, clinically appropriate transition into treatment with strong communication and organization.

You will conduct intake assessments, verify demographics and insurance, coordinate logistics, document in the EMR, and collaborate with clinical teams to support placement and continuity of care.

• Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail are required.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist patients and families through admissions.
• Conduct intake assessments and utilize evidence-based assessments as needed.
• Adhere to Standards of Care for proper care and documentation.
• Document significant events in client records clearly and timely.
• Coordinate interdepartmental staff reports between medical and clinical departments.
• Assist with admitting clients and program orientation in detox.
• Provide education and therapeutic guidance on schedules and activities.
• Respond to inappropriate client behaviors and maintain professional boundaries.
• Report client behaviors to the nurse on duty.
