Job summary

The BridgeWay is seeking an Intake Coordinator to support the admission process for patients across behavioral health services. You will manage referrals, collect information, schedule assessments, and coordinate with the nursing team and external clinicians to ensure efficient admissions.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, CPR/CPI certification, and at least one year of insurance verification or billing experience.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Current CPR and CPI; offered onsite.
  • At least 1 year experience with insurance verification/billing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate admission process for clinically appropriate patients.
  • Receive referrals, gather and verify information, and schedule assessments.
  • Input statistical information into hospital systems.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Department and external clinicians to facilitate admissions.
  • Perform clerical duties to support the department.

Our team of professionals includes board-certified child/adolescent and adult psychiatrists, licensed clinical therapists, nurses and mental health associates who are here to help people reconnect with their families, friends and employers so that they may lead productive lives. Tucked within the wooded hills of Central Arkansas, The BridgeWay is just moments away from the major highways that unite Arkansans throughout the state. Founded in 1983 and accredited by The Joint Commission, our quiet campus has retained much of the cozy charm and character that existed then.

We are currently looking for a dynamic professional to join our team. The Intake Coordinator provide administrative support for the assessment team by assuming the responsibility for the coordination of an effective, efficient admission process for all patients by receiving referrals, gathering and verifying pertinent information, and completing necessary procedures to schedule patients for assessments. This position works closely with the Nursing Department and external clinicians to facilitate the admission process for clinically appropriate patients. The Intake Coordinator also inputs statistical information into appropriate hospital systems and performs other clerical duties as needed to assist the department.

Qualifications

Licenses or Certifications: Current CPR and CPI; offered onsite
Total education, vocational training and experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field. At least 1 year experience with insurance verification/billing preferred.

  • Excellent professional, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to assess the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of patients during intake calls
  • Good knowledge of admitting and insurance verification.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required to communicate with patients, families, referral sources, community agencies, and staff. Knowledge of telephone etiquette is required.
  • Must be able to interact with patients, physicians, families and hospital personnel in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of computer input and skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Must have ability to work under stressful circumstances with frequent interruptions, multi-task and be detail oriented.
  • Work is of medium demand, requiring heavy telephone and personal contact with patients, referral sources, community agencies and insurance companies.
