Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking an Intake Authorization Coordinator in Ohio to manage patient authorizations across home care services and payer types. You will verify coverage, communicate with payers, and document findings in our certified software systems.

The role requires 3+ years in a hospital/post-acute insurance environment, strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid rules, and excellent organizational skills. Weekend/holiday rotation may be needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in hospital/post-acute insurance setting.
• High School Equivalent / GED required; medical terminology courses preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations and reimbursement.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong knowledge of Commercial Insurance rules.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Initiates and maintains high level of customer service and employee relationships.
• Obtains authorization for all disciplines for Home Care Services; verifies insurance and benefits.
• Verifies and allocates accurate insurance plans; uses eligibility tools and payer portals.
• Communicates with internal/external customers by email, phone, and doc halo.
• Documents payer and government agency findings in agency software.
• Collaborates with Intake Referral, Revenue Cycle, Clinical Managers, and Patient Services.
• Ensures productivity and quality standards; manages workloads.
• Maintains high accuracy and strong organizational skills.
• May require rotating weekends and holidays.
