Brentwood Hospital in Shreveport, LA seeks an Admissions Nurse - RN to join our psychiatric and chemical dependence treatment team. You will perform intake, crisis assessment, and admission coordination to ensure safe, timely referrals and coordinated care.

This role requires an active RN license in Louisiana, inpatient intake experience, and strong communication with referral sources, patients, and staff. We offer comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Education: Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Experience: Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention with psychiatric mental health population.
• Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Louisiana.
• Knowledge: Crisis intervention, risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses, development and crisis behavior management.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial medical screening and admission assessments.
• Assess, direct and intervene in crisis situations.
• Medical screening via nurse-to-nurse phone assessments for transfers.
• Obtain/document pre-certification on admissions as necessary.
• Basic medical triage: wound care and related checks.
• Follow-up communication with referral sources, families and unit staff.

The Registered Nurse Assessment and Referral Counselor provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.

Essential Job Functions

Qualifications

Education: Associatesor Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Experience: Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferable in an inpatient setting.

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed to practice by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses symptomatology, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis behavior management.

Hours: Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM - 11:00 PM, Monday - Friday 9:00 pm, - 5:30 am
