Role Description The Intake and Authorization Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in the Denver Metropolitan Area. This position is responsible for welcoming and registering patients, collecting and verifying demographic and medical information, and ensuring accurate intake documentation in practice systems. The specialist reviews insurance coverage, obtains prior authorizations for infusion and related services, and coordinates benefits with payers and internal clinical teams. Daily tasks include responding to patient and provider inquiries, clarifying coverage and financial responsibilities, and proactively resolving authorization issues to prevent delays in care. The role collaborates closely with front desk, nursing, and billing staff to support efficient patient flow, maintain confidentiality, and uphold a positive, professional patient experience.

Qualifications

• Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills to interact effectively with patients, clinicians, and payers in a professional, empathetic manner.
• Client Intake and Customer Service experience to manage patient registration, information gathering, and front-facing support with accuracy and respect.
• Insurance knowledge, including benefits verification and prior authorization processes, ideally within infusion therapy, specialty, or outpatient care settings.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills for accurate data entry, documentation, and management of multiple authorization requests and deadlines.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems, as well as basic office software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, scheduling tools).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining confidentiality and complying with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Prior experience in healthcare administration, medical front office, or revenue cycle roles preferred; infusion or specialty practice experience is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; post‑secondary coursework or certification in medical administration, billing, or related fields is beneficial.
