Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years’ hospital admissions or billing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of authorization processes for all payers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance policies.
• Excellent organization and time management, with strong oral and written communication.
• Ability to learn quickly, work independently and collaboratively.
• Maintain good working relationships and multitask in a demanding environment.
• Problem solving skills and proficient computer skills.
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility by contacting health plan carriers and entering updated information into the patient account.
• Explain insurance coverage and financial responsibilities to patients.
• Coordinate payments and estimates per payer specifications before services rendered.
• Collect payments and discuss payment arrangements; create estimates as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service for insurance inquiries.
• Document all communication in the EMR and follow up as required.
• Prepare reports on verification activities for management review.
• Pursue education opportunities to stay current with payer changes in healthcare.
