Job summary

Akumin is a leading provider of outpatient radiology and oncology services, seeking an Insurance Verification Coordinator to verify patient benefits and eligibility, load pre-certifications, and maintain accurate records in the EMR. You will coordinate coverage restrictions and support other departments to prevent payment issues and ensure top-tier customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years’ experience in medical or related field required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of health insurance industry practices and/or medical billing procedures.
• Computer literacy required; experience with medical scheduling/billing systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Audit schedules to verify patient insurance verification and active status; meet deadlines.
• Obtain referrals or authorizations from primary care offices or insurers.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve insurance issues.
• Index incoming records/referrals.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Pre-employment background check and drug screen required for offers.
