Akumin Inc. is hiring an Insurance Verification Coordinator for the Brookfield, CT or Mount Kisco, NY location. This full-time role verifies patient insurance benefits and eligibility, loads pre-certifications, and coordinates with internal teams to resolve payment issues.

The position requires a high school diploma, 2–3 years in medical or related fields, knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance practices, and computer-lit scheduling/billing systems experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; college certificate preferred.
• 2–3 years’ experience in medical or related field.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Knowledge of health insurance industry practices and/or medical billing procedures.
• Computer literacy; experience with medical scheduling/billing systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Audit schedules to verify all patients are verified and active.
• Document and address coverage restrictions to avoid payment problems.
• Obtain referrals or authorizations from providers or insurers.
• Index incoming records/referrals and coordinate with internal teams.
