Job summary

GI Alliance is seeking an Insurance Verification Specialist I to support pre-authorization and patient coordination for physician appointments and procedures. The role requires accurate verification of patient insurance, collecting co-pays, and documenting benefits in the EMR.

Qualifications

• 1–4 years of insurance verification experience preferred.
• Understanding of medical terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-verify patients for physician consultations and procedures.
• Verify patient insurance by phone, fax, or web.
• Enter benefits data for patients accurately in EMR.
• Refer complex issues to supervisor for review or action.
• Assist with insurance billing projects as assigned.

GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Insurance Verification Specialist I.Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.Position purposeVerify patient insurance and co-payments prior to office appointments and procedures.Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Pre-verify patients seeing treatment for physician consultations and procedures.Using various documents, determine if GI Alliance accepts the patients insurance.Verify patient insurance by means of phone, fax, and web.Enter benefits data for patients accurately in EMR.Refer complex issues to the supervisor for review and or action.Provide quality service to patients.Work on insurance billing projects, as assigned.Perform other duties as assignedQualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.Experience: Two (2) to four (4) years of insurance verification experience preferred.Requirements for Level I Status:Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision.Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.Additional Qualifications:Understanding of medical terminology and CPT and ICD10 CodingCritical thinkingPerformance Requirements:Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Proficient technical (computer) skills.Ability to multi-task and prioritize.Self-motivated with initiative.Strong sense of ethics.GI Alliance is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
