Job summary

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Authorization & Verification Specialist to join our team. This role ensures surgical cases are scheduled and patient insurance is verified, with duties in confirming benefits, copays, and accurate data entry in the admitting system.

You will work under pressure, coordinate with insurers and staff, prepare preregistration packets, update medical records, and help with daily payment logs. CPR certification is required within 60 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• CPR certification within 60 days of employment.
• Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
• Strong verbal, written English, and public speaking abilities.
• Experience with healthcare scheduling and insurance knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Ensure surgical cases are scheduled and insurance is verified.
• Call primary and secondary insurers to verify benefits and deductibles.
• Notify staff of non-reimbursable benefits and manage patient payments.
• Prepare preregistration packets and update medical records as needed.
• Enter information accurately into the admitting/registration system.
• Assist with daily log of patient payments and closing procedures.
