Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a detail-oriented benefits verification/authorization professional to manage patient intake, insurance verification, precertification, and billing workflows across EPIC.

You will coordinate with physicians’ offices, maintain productivity standards, verify coverage, schedule appropriately, and uphold HIPAA privacy while delivering high-quality service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• 2 years benefit verification/authorization experience.
• 1 year customer service experience.
• 2 years clinical/pre-cert/authorization experience.
• 4 years experience with Outlook/Word.
• 4 years experience with office equipment (fax/copier).

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient work queues for verification needs.
• Coordinate with physicians' offices for pre-certification and benefits.
• Pre-register patients with accurate intake and insurance data.
• Verify insurance coverage and eligibility.
• Prepare cost estimates for scheduled appointments.
• Ensure proper scheduling with correct class and indicators.
• Enter data into EPIC and other systems accurately.
• Maintain HIPAA privacy and protect patient information.
• Communicate with patients about out-of-network situations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
