Job summary

The US Oncology Network in Eugene, OR is seeking an Insurance Verification Specialist to verify patient benefits and support the revenue cycle team. The role focuses on accurate demographic and insurance data, submitting referrals, and noting important insurer communications to guide treatment planning.

Ideal candidates have EMR experience, strong communication, and at least two years in a medical office environment handling insurance procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2+ years of medical business office experience with insurance procedures and patient interaction.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience required.
• Solid understanding of medical terminology, medical insurance terms, and estimate of benefits (EOB).
• Strong written and oral communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Programs, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Calls insurance companies to verify benefits and complete verification summaries.
• Reviews demographic and insurance information in patient accounts and makes corrections as needed.
• Submits and loads insurance referrals from a work queue for scheduled patients.
• Notes in each account a brief summary of information received from the insurer.
• Scans and verifies benefits information and forwards data to the appropriate office.
• Ensures all insurance, demographic, and eligibility information is accurate in the system.
• Maintains manuals, logs and other required documentation.
• Protects patient confidentiality and adheres to policies and procedures.
• Supports other business office functions as requested.
• Collaborates with clinic staff to ensure efficient revenue cycle processes.
