Job summary

The US Oncology Network in Eugene, OR seeks an Insurance Verification Specialist to support patients by clarifying coverage and benefits. This role is part of the Revenue Cycle Team and prepares patients for their first visit or treatment plan.

Responsibilities include verifying benefits with insurers, updating patient records, and processing referrals, while maintaining confidentiality and supporting office operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2+ years of medical business office experience with insurance procedures and patient interaction.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience required.
• Solid understanding of medical terminology, medical insurance terms, and estimate of benefits (EOB).
• Strong written and oral communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Programs, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Calls insurance companies to verify benefits of the patient and summarizes reimbursement and liability forms.
• Reviews demographic and insurance information and makes necessary corrections.
• Submitting and loading insurance referrals from a work queue for scheduled patients.
• Notes in each account a brief summary of information received from the insurance company.
• Scans assignment of benefits and forwards completed information to the appropriate office.
• Ensures all insurance, demographic, and eligibility information is entered accurately.
• Assists in maintaining manuals, logs and other required documentation.
• Demonstrates patient confidentiality to protect patient and clinic.
• Follows policies to contribute to office efficiency.
• Covers for and assists with other business office functions as requested.
