Job summary

Akumin is seeking an Insurance Verification Coordinator for full-time work at Brookfield or Mt. Kisco, NY. You will verify patient insurance benefits, load pre-certification approvals, and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR to support efficient care delivery.

You will collaborate with departments to resolve payment issues, obtain referrals or authorizations, and help keep schedules verified and active. A background check and drug screen are required after offer acceptance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; college/technical certificate preferred.
• 2–3 years of experience in a medical or related field.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Knowledge of health insurance industry practices and/or medical billing procedures.
• Computer literacy required; experience with medical scheduling/billing systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility.
• Process and load pre-certification approvals for consults and follow-up visits.
