Job summary

Gastromed, Llc is seeking an Insurance Verification Representative to confirm patient insurance coverage and ensure authorizations are processed before appointments. The role requires a high school diploma, basic computer/EMR skills, and strong communication abilities in a fast-paced medical environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred; read, write and speak English.
• 1-2 years of related experience in a medical setting preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task effectively.
• Demonstrates skill in using PCs, EMR systems and authorization tools with minimal errors.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient referrals and/or authorizations days prior to visits.
• Register/update patients’ insurance in the EMR.
• Verify patient insurance is active and participating provider.
• Review deductibles and co-pays; update patient records.
• Procure referrals/authorization via portal or insurer contact.
• Assist patients with inquiries and ensure expectations are met.
• Coordinate with front desk to ensure clean billing.
• Follow up on callbacks before end of day.
• Handle calls and schedule/reschedule appointments as needed.
• Maintain professional conduct and adhere to policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
