Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
• Experience with EPIC is a plus.
• Must have excellent communication skills, caring attitude and be a team player.
• Strong organizational skills are required.
• HS diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Calling payors for payment.
• Performs routine duties in conjunction with processing all third party insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and other government assisted programs.
• Clerks will have a good working knowledge of all payer regulations for submitting claims.
• Billing clerk will send claims either electronically or hard copy depending on the type of claim being processed.
• Handles day to day requests for insurance resubmits.
• Answers phone calls and correspondence relating to the claim.
• Audits the admission/registration information to ensure accuracy prior to billing and check for missing or incorrect information or authorizations.

Spencer Hospital is a rural hospital located in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

Schedule: 80 hrs per pay period M-F; 8a-4:30pm The schedule may fluctuate based upon needs of the department.
