Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of insurance accounting and applicable laws.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial analysis practices in insurance.
  • Broad knowledge of insurance company structures and NAIC standards.
  • Strong ability to gather, analyze data and communicate findings clearly.
  • Experience with preparing clear, concise written reports.

Responsibilities

  • Determines significant solvency risks of the insurer through analysis and recommends regulatory action when appropriate.
  • Examines corporate records, policies, and treatment of policyholders for compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Analyzes reinsurance treaties for soundness and risk distribution.
  • Analyzes investment transactions for legality, valuation, and reporting of income.
  • Analyzes, summarizes, and reviews data; reports findings and interpretations.
  • Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, and other written material.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and agency rules.
  • Gathers documentation to support negotiated resolutions of non-compliance issues.
